Another Wizard painted up for Frostgrave, this time from the Citadel BC1 Adventurers Starter Set, released in 1985. This is the only miniature I have from that box set. I wish I had the rest!
The dogs below were another quick paint job rattled off while waiting on other things to dry. I wasn’t sure who the manufacturer was as I bought them from an eBay seller who stocks a wide selection of miniatures and often breaks down sets to sell the components separately. I dug a bit deeper and apparently they were made by North Star Miniatures although I can’t find them on their website.
They’re not the greatest of sculpts and are a little on the small side but they make for a passable Lurcher type hunting dog that I could see surviving in the wild as feral canines.
Nice work on these, and kudos for giving such old lead such a nice, fresh paint job.

Nice. 🙂 I agree the purple robe came out nicely, and despite being a “quick paint job” as you say, they all came out good. Yes, the dogs might be a little small, but (again) as you say they could be some smallish feral canines or simply a medium-sized breed.

I love that wizard. He was one of the first minis I ever painted. Nice work on the soft tones of purple. He looks great. Nice dogs as well.

Thanks, I’m looking forward to getting him on a gaming table at some point!

The dogs are probably a bit small for Irish Wolfhounds, but very reasonable for wild dogs. We often tend to overstate the sizes of animals with our miniatures, resulting in a “normal” size for a wolf or a dog being on a par with a motorcycle!

Yes, these wouldn’t pass for Wolf/Deerhounds but are okay as medium sized dogs.
Boars are also on the list of huge sized minis these days too.

No, the boars are accurate. Haven’t you ever seen the classic film “Razorback”? 😉
